Eating Disorders and OCD
Eating disorders can include binge eating, anorexia nervosa bulimia nervosa and pica and many more. Anxiety disorders, depression and substance abuse are common among people with eating disorders. The cause of eating disorders is not clear, both biological and environmental factors appear to play a role.
Treatment can be affective for many eating disorders, including counselling, a proper diet, a normal amount of exercise and the reduction of efforts to eliminate food.
Obsessive – compulsive disorder (OCD)
OCD is a mental disorder where people feel the need to check things and perform certain routines repeatedly. People are unable to control these for more than a short period of time. Common rituals include hand washing, counting things and checking to see if a door is locked. This can occur so much that the persons daily life is negatively impacted.
The cause is unknown but counselling can help identify the start of the OCD traits and work through any triggers that might have caused them to start, whilst reducing the routines that are affecting your daily life.
